Four Truths of Love
We are not separate from nature. We are one part of the greater circle of life, interconnected with one another and dependent upon the ecosystems that sustain us. Despite our differences in culture, nationality, beliefs, and ways of life, we all share a common home in Earth and a shared responsibility for the well-being of present and future generations.
The Four Truths of Love provide a simple framework for exploring our relationship with ourselves, one another, and the natural world. Expressed in different ways across many cultures, faiths, and wisdom traditions, these principles encourage greater understanding, cooperation, and stewardship.
Their purpose is not to overlook our differences, but rather to help us discover common ground from which mutual understanding, peaceful cooperation, and care for life can flourish. For peaceful agreement and cooperation are essential to protecting the ecosystems, communities, and future generations upon which we all depend.
God is Love
All life is interconnected through love, the one breath of life that flows through and sustains all living things. Though known by many names across cultures, traditions, and faiths, love is the eternal life-giving essence that connects us all, a unifying field of energy expressed through all creation. To live in love is to live in harmony with the interconnectedness of life.
Love One Another
The same breath of life within you is shared with all people. Recognizing our shared humanity, treat one another with the same care, compassion and dignity you would want to be treated, for what you do unto another, you do unto yourself. When we create harm, that harm perpetuates; yet when we heal harm, we bring healing and positive change to our communities.
You are Love
The same breath of life that flows through all living things also flows within you, as a unique expression of love within the whole of creation. You have the freewill to live in alignment with that love through how you think, feel, speak, and act to overcome fear. For all true power and lasting change in life come from within you.
Love our Earth
The same breath of life that flows through all people also flows through all wildlife, waters, skies, and lands. As one part of this interconnected ecosystem, we share a responsibility to care for and protect it. By acting as responsible stewards of its gifts, we honor our place within the greater circle of life, recognizing that when we care for Earth, Earth sustains us in return.
